It is no secret at Green Duck Customs that Black Cherry is our favorite wood. Black Cherry naturally darkens from a pinkish brown to that classic American dark reddish brown as it is exposed to natural light. The wood typically has black streaks in it, due to organic mineral deposits, that provide an awesome contrast to the natural tone of this sought after domestic hardwood. So, our favorite cutting board aptly carries our name- "The Duck Board."
Our Professional Series (PS) End Grain Cutting Boards are widely regarded as the single best cutting surfaces for the chef. The end grain is the gentlest on your knife, meaning your knives will stay sharper longer, and these boards are better at hiding knife marks and scratches. Green Duck Customs takes these basic attributes a few steps further, though.
First, these boards are a solid two inches thick, which means these beefy boards provide the most solid and strong chopping surfaces. In addition, the increased thickness makes them much less prone to warping. Finally, these are true two-sided boards meaning you get twice the life out of the factory surfaces than you would with boards with feet. In addition, boards may vary in size from the standard product description, no more than 1/4" in width/length and 1/8" in thickness both of which are due to variation in the milling and production process. Bottom line: your board will be unique and awesome!
Cutting boards are exceptionally durable products but they must be properly cared for. Overall, cutting boards must be hand washed with soap and water only and must not be put in a dishwasher or immersed for extended periods of time in water. In addition, these boards should be oiled when they exhibit signs of dryness. Please see use and care instructions for full details.
